Mid-Range Munition (MRM)
ATK is developing he Mid-Range Munition (MRM), a cannon-launched, rocket-boosted, precision guided munition that will give the U.S. Army overwhelming lethality, pinpoint accuracy, and significant standoff capability. It is a major lethality component of the U.S Army's Mounted Combat System Block I of the Future Combat System.

The ATK MRM uses a semi-active laser seeker for cooperative targeting and a millimeter wave seeker to autonomously acquire and track the target. Impulse thrusters provide maneuverability to hit targets at extended ranges. This unique control system has no moving parts, providing high reliability at a low cost. The projectile flies to its target on a ballistic trajectory. Before impact, a rocket motor boosts the projectile with its embedded long-rod penetrator to lethal supersonic velocity.

The ATK MRM is compatible with current combat systems such as the Abrams tank. Because it is a self-contained system with no moving parts, MRM will be more rugged, reliable, and affordable than earlier generation precision-guided munitions.
