105mm Gun System Ammunition
ATK manufactures a full spectrum of large caliber tank ammunition for the US military and its allies. The 105mm ammunition is fully compatible with all NATO 105mm cannon (M68/L7) such as those on the US Army's Stryker Mobile Gun System. The 105mm ammunition's advanced design offers a unique capability for Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT). The M1040 canister fielded to the Stryker Brigade provides the soldier with new capabilities in this recently fielded combat vehicle.

It is designed as a replacement for the 105mm HEAT round. Like the M830A1, it uses a discarding sabot with the same subcaliber warhead with airburst capability selectable by the tank crewman. It has the same lethality as the M830A1 and is compatible with the Stryker Bridgade Combat Teams Mobile Gun System (MGS).

PERFORMANCE DATA The XM1040 Canister is designed to defeat massed infantry in the open. In MOUT (Military operations in Urban Terrain) this round has greatly enhanced the war fighters capability. This round has been fielded with the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams — Mobile Gun System (MGS).
