Environmental Stewardship
ATK is committed to producing products and services for its customers in
an environmental responsible manner. We believe that forward-looking, proper,
and cost-effective management of air, land, and water resources is key to
our long-term success. We will provide a safe and healthful workplace for
our employees and for the communities where we live and operate.
We have established 10 objectives for implementing this commitment throughout our operations:
- Periodically examine the nature of our operations and strategically plan to ensure appropriate environmental actions are being taken.
- Integrate sound environmental practices into our business decisions.
- Establish quantifiable goals and accountabilities for environmental performance.
- Continuously improve environmental performance by using effective environmental management systems.
- Comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, as well as our internal environmental procedures.
- Periodically assess our operating facilities to ensure environmental compliance and effective operation of environmental management systems.
- Implement pollution prevention, energy conservation, and greenhouse gas emission reduction programs.
- Train our employees to ensure they know their responsibilities for protecting health and the environment, and recognize them for outstanding performance.
- Participate in the development of technically sound and equitable environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Communicate with government agencies, industry,
and the community on environmental issues, and work with them to develop
timely solutions to problems created by historical hazardous material
handling and disposal practices.
Each operating unit is responsible to implement the requirements of this
policy.
