The ATK test and research facility in Ronkonkoma, New York offers services in hypersonic testing and development, commercial and alternative energy, MEMS development, prototype manufacturing and instrumentation, and flight test vehicles. Among the key successes for the facility is the successful design, build, integration, and flight tests of scramjet technology reaching Mach 7 and Mach 10.
Aeropropulsion and Power Test Complex
This world-class research facility serves the Aerospace and Power Generation industries. The complex features nine test stands which can be configured as needed to acquire critical data: control and acquisition; gas turbine combustor development; jet engine component test; hypersonic engine and component test complex and flight testing.
Commercial/Alternative Energy Research
ATK has been able to leverage in-house expertise in chemically reacting flows, heat transfer and fluid dynamics analysis with prototype development and testing capabilities to develop cutting-edge energy systems. Technologies include: fuel reforming; energy storage; coal gasification.
Design and Analysis
ATK design and analysis engineers have years of experience in the design of and analysis of advanced propulsion systems, test articles, and facility systems including: thermal and structural analysis; CFD and combustion analysis; systems analysis.
Prototype Fabrication
ATK has successfully manufactured the engine for the X-43 flight vehicle, most of the freejet and direct connect hypersonic tests, and a vast array of high enthalpy facility hardware.
Microtechnology Development
ATK provides experience in MEMS technology and high temperature packaging as well as unique Microtechnology solutions for physical sensing applications, such as, wall shear, pressure, and material recession rates, and solutions for adaptive thermal management.
