Minotaur
The Minotaur was developed by Orbital Sciences Corporation for the U.S.
Air Force's Orbital/Suborbital Program as a low-cost, four-stage
space launch vehicle. The Minotaur uses a combination of U.S. government-supplied
Minuteman II motors and ATK Orion motors.
The Minuteman rocket motors, which are refurbished by ATK,
serve as the vehicle's first and second stages. ATK builds
and supplies the Orion 50Xl and Orion 38 motors used as Minotaur's third and
fourth stages, respectively.
The Orion motors are also used on the air-launched Pegasus vehicle and the ground-launch Taurus rocket.
