M114 TOW Rocket Launch Motor
M114 is a double base propellant, rocket launch motor used in Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missile systems. There are four different versions: Basic TOW, ITOW, TOW 2A, and TOW 2B. They were designed to produce low flash and low exhaust, while maintaining an extremely quick action time. To ensure user safety, the launch motor burn cycle is complete prior to the system exiting the launch tube, expelling the TOW missile to a safe firing distance prior to flight motor ignition. ATK has successfully manufactured the most critical safety component of this system for nearly 30 years.
MK 90 Propellant Grain APKWS Rocket Motor
ATK is the sole manufacturer of the MK 90 propellant grain used in the Hydra 70 family of rockets and the next-generation Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS).
The MK 90 propellant grain is minimum smoke, class 1.3, and is manufactured using
a unique process to ensure reliability and uniformity. The MK 90 grain is configured
from solventless, double-base NOSIH AA-2 propellant and when ignited, it produces
a low signature for battlefield concealment. The low-cost MK 90 propellant grain
is ideal for both the guided High Explosive Point Detonating (HEPD) rocket and
unguided rockets containing payloads, such as flechette, smoke, or illumination
warheads used by the APKWS.
