Advanced Materials
TCR prepregs are the material of choice for any customer looking to replace conventional materials with lightweight, high-strength, and cost-effective alternatives. Common applications include:
- Aerospace: Aircraft, missile, launch vehicle, and satellite structures
- Industrial: Automobile cross beams, airbags, and restraint devices; commercial furniture; industrial rollers; lamp and utility poles
- Medical: Prosthetic limbs, orthotic braces, surgical devices (endoscopes, implants)
- Recreational: Equipment for water, snow, and land sports (sail masts, snow skis, golf shafts)
TCR prepreg materials feature environmentally friendly, thermosetting epoxy resin systems. Standard features include up to one-year shelf life at ambient temperatures, resin content to tight tolerances, controllable resin flow during cure, and tailorable tack levels.
TCR prepreg material forms include towpreg, fabric, braided sleeves, and unidirectional tape.
TCR Resin
The TCR line of prepregs features a unique thermosetting epoxy matrix resin system for tow/roving, uni-tape, cloth, and braided fibers with a one-year shelf life at room temperature. This revolutionary system is available with carbon, glass, aramid, or other materials. Resin content, resin flow during cure, and tack levels can be tailored to suit varying process requirements. TCR epoxy resins are available in 250, 300, and 350°F systems (121 to 176°C).
TCR Towpreg
TCR towpregs feature a patented thermoset resin system with virtually any continuous fiber reinforcement. Our towpregs are designed for high throughput for filament-winding applications (up to 900 feet or 275 meters per minute). Tow can be impregnated from 6K to 160K standard modulus to ultra-high modulus carbon fibers as well as glass, aramid, and PBO with equivalent cross-sections. We can use product from any fiber manufacturer to assist with customers' filament-winding applications.
TCR Prepreg Fabric
TCR room-temperature prepreg fabrics are available in many styles, weights, and widths. Commonly used fabrics are stocked and available, often with next-day shipment. With the long out-life of TCR resins, storage and processing times are rarely an issue. Broadgood forms include: biaxial, triaxial, stitched, uniwoven, nonwoven, multiaxial, and hybrid. Fiber forms include carbon, glass, Aramid, Spectra, and Astroquartz.
TCR Braided Sleeves
TCR epoxy resins are specially designed for braided reinforcements made of carbon, fiberglass, aramid, or a combination. All resin formulations are storable at room temperature; refrigerated shipping and storage are not required. Customers may specify resin content, tack level, and flow during cure.
TCR Prepreg Tape
The TCR line of unidirectional tapes features a patented resin epoxy system with extended out-times at room temperature. Customers may specify resin types, resin content, and fiber areal weights from 150 to 900 gsm. Tapes are also available with fiberglass or carbon scrim and poly or paper backing. Reinforcements may be selected from various carbon fiber suppliers. TCR commercial grade uni-tapes are ideal when fabricating composite products that require long layup times and thick laminate construction.
