This web site has been created by Alliant Techsystems to inform the people who live and work on and around the property at 4800 Dry Creek Road, Centennial, Colorado, of our groundwater investigation and remediation activities. 

Alliant discovered the property was contaminated in 1990 when we assumed ownership of it from Honeywell. Since then, Alliant has worked with the Environmental Protection Agency to determine the nature and extent of the contamination and is now working with the State of Colorado to evaluate final remediation alternatives.

We began cleaning up the site in 1995. Groundwater testing since then shows the contamination at the source—the area of highest concentration—has been reduced. Based on years of monitoring, Alliant believes the levels of groundwater contamination on site and in the surrounding area are so low they pose no health risk to the people who live and work in the area.

In determining health risk, Alliant investigated two pathways by which people could possibly be exposed. One pathway is through the water you drink and use, and the other is through the air you breathe in your homes. There is no question: the water you drink, bathe in, and use on your lawn is not affected by chemicals in groundwater from the site. Your water comes from a city source.

The air you breathe in your home is also safe. In sampling more than 50 neighborhood homes multiple times, Alliant found no health risk associated with the contaminants present in the groundwater.

Alliant is currently working with the State of Colorado to implement the final corrective measure at the site, in-situ chemcal oxidation followed by long-term groundwater monitoring.
